Founder, Dr. Lisa Grain, has long, thick, textured hair. As a child she practiced a hair styling ritual, passed down from her Grandmother Ellen, to her Mother Carolyn, then to Lisa, and now to her Daughter Chelsea. Every Sunday night was “Hair Salon” where her hair was Wet Set on French Bouffant Rollers with great care and precision. This ritual of styling symbolized more than healthy hair care, but personal nurturing and love.

However, over time, quality rolling tools vanished. Dr. Lisa struggled to find adequate replacements. She decided after a successful career as an Orthodontist, to integrate her scientific background, knowledge of engineering of metals, and appreciation for craftmanship and beauty to redevelop the roller, from the inside out.

At the heart of every French Barrelette is an innovative stainless steel core with hexagonal cutouts, encased in a polyester mesh fabric. This reimagined core distributes and absorbs heat more evenly for unparalleled results no matter the styling application. To compliment a blow dry or dry set, the Barrelette is a powerful tool in curing curls formed from a round brush blow dry or curling iron. When used in a wet set application, the unique design allows airflow to pass directly through, absorbing the diffuse heat of a hooded dryer, thereby reducing drying time while creating beautiful and bountiful curls.
